Irving Schwartz 1919-2001
The one-man practice that Irving Schwartz started in New York City in the 1940's is the forerunner of today's Schwartz & Hofflich. Irving, who retired in 1994, established the tradition of ethical and personal service that continues to inspire and nurture the firm's partners and staff today.

During his career, Irving received many professional and business awards, including the Lay Persons Award, granted to him in 1979, by the Connecticut Society of Architects (CSA). He was also honored by the Norwalk Mental Health Association, the Sculptor's Guild, the Israel Bond Organization, and the United Jewish Appeal.

Formerly a Professional Associate of the CSA, he conducted many seminars for its members and was the society's financial advisor and business manager. He also was guest lecturer at local colleges, as well as leader of popular seminars on Investment Strategies.

It is with great sadness that we tell of the passing of founding partner Irving Schwartz in December, 2001. Hank Hofflich, long-time friend and partner gave the following tribute to Irving: A Tribute to Irving Schwartz.

Henry Hofflich
After a distinguished 45-year career, Henry Hofflich retired from the firm in 1998. An extensive and solid knowledge of taxation made him a respected authority on national, state, and local tax matters. He conducted numerous lectures and seminars explaining changes in Federal tax laws and the tax-planning opportunities that result. His articles on taxation have appeared in professional and technical journals. He is a member of the prestigious national honor accounting fraternity Alpha Beta Psi.

Hank and his wife remain in Fairfield, Connecticut and plan to travel extensively. Retirement plans also include spending more time with his family, as well as studying some new topics at a local college.
