Irving Schwartz started a one-man practice in New York City in 1948, and opened a second office in New Canaan, Connecticut in 1952. The practice was consolidated into one location in Norwalk in 1957. The partnership of Schwartz & Hofflich was formed with Henry Hofflich in 1960. Both Irving Schwartz and Henry Hofflich retired and the firm has grown to include seven partners.

By becoming close advisors to our clients we've helped many small entrepreneurs to prosper. We've done it by learning as much as we could about each particular business and discovering the nuances that differentiate one from another. This tradition of building a practice on personal knowledge and a high level of personal service is still very important to us. We believe there is no substitute for working very hard. Client satisfaction remains our primary goal and long-lasting relationships are especially prized.

Our clients depend on us to function as their business advisors. They know our services will be thorough, complete and always explained clearly and in full. Moreover, the size of our firm allows our partners to know one anothers clients. Consultation, if and when needed, thus becomes an important part of problem-solving.

We are part of an international organization of CPA firms who are all about our size. DFK International is an association of approximately 155 accounting firms worldwide with 25 of those firms located in the United States and the balance in major cities around the world. In total, DFK is represented in about 65 countries with some 280 offices and about 6100 in combined personnel. While we have these resources available to help us fulfill our clients' needs, we remain an independent entity dedicated to providing our clients with the very highest quality of personal service.

Our partners have met partners from all the USA offices and many of the overseas offices as well. We use these associations and capabilities for the benefit of our clients. Before being admitted, member firms are thoroughly reviewed for quality and expertise and are required to maintain the highest standards of the profession under the laws and rules of their respective states or countries.

DFK allows us to compete more effectively with other firms offering services such as ours. We can now reach out to our fellow DFK members, and they to us, for accounting, tax or financial assistance. Whether you do business locally, nationally or around the world, we have the capability to provide the highest quality services.
